Sensory friendly movie screening planned for Mississauga

Children with autism spectrum disorders often also have issues with sensory processing, and a special movie screening has been planned for Mississauga that will offer a sensory friendly family day out.

Autism Ontario will be partnering with Cineplex Odeon Courtney Park Cinemas to host a showing of the animated feature film Lego Ninjago in 2D, which is suitable for people of all ages. The families who come out will be granted exclusive use of the cinema, and both the light level and sound will be moderated so that it doesn’t overwhelm the audience members who have an ASD. It is also open to siblings and their parents or caregivers as well, and will be a family friendly activity.

The event will also offer the kids an opportunity to practice their social skills in a supportive environment, and as the number of space available is limited, those who are interested in participating have been asked to register ahead of time. The ticket price for children will be $3.00 each, while for adults, it will be $5.00. An organization that hosts events like this can utilize re-usable pop up banners to promote it on the day of the function.

This sensory friendly movie screening will take pace on September 30th, and anyone who has questions or who would like to register can do so through the event’s listing.
