The Digital Imaging Association (DIA) held a meeting last month at Spicers in Vaughan, Ontario.

Hosted by a panel including Denis Muslimovic of Lowe-Martin Group, Burton Empey of XMpie, Noel St. Jean of EFI and Jeff Perk of Pageflex, the focus of the meeting was primarily web-to-print commerce. The experts in attendance discussed the affordability, pricing standards, cloud hosting, automation, warehousing and upselling, as well as many other topics related to printing services.

A heavy focus was on the cloud hosting versus in-house hosting. The attendees advised that utilizing cloud hosting and automation would decrease running costs. They also covered a guide on pricing standards, and how to price web-to-print services. Another interesting topic covered was site mobility.

It was decided that the DIA will meet again on April 7 at the ‘Print & (everything else)’ event with Daniel Dejan. Dejan is the Print and Creative Manager for Sappi, which is a global company that provides paper-based solutions to customers across the world. Dejan has always been a spokesperson for paper and its place in the business world, maintaining that it continues to play a crucial role as we move further into the world of technology.

Frank Cairns is the administrator of DIA, and the sole employee. The focus the group is to enhance the business use of digital imaging, print, and technological advances in the print business.
