Walk for Memories to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research in Halifax

The Alzheimer’s Society is holding an incredibly important event in the Halifax and the rest of Atlantic Canada and local printers will hopefully provide a helping hand to raise funds for this debilitating and degenerative disease. The most common form of dementia associated with aging, current treatments do nothing to halt the progression of the disease or reverse it. Given the current statistics on Canada’s aging population, the number of people facing the disease is expected to double by 2038.

The Walk for Memories is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Society and is slated to take place on May 6th in the Atlantic Canada and Halifax area. Registration is $20 per person and takes place at Pier 21. Registrants will also have the opportunity to display photographs of loved ones afflicted with the disease.

Print companies in the Atlantic Canada area can play a role in this important event to support a worthy charitable cause. Poster printing of stories of Alzheimer’s survivors and their pictures can go a long way in promoting the cause, as well as the publication of brochures detailing facts and myths about the disease and statistics of those afflicted. Flyer printing can help raise awareness and support for the cause by advertising the event as well as some of the intended uses for funding.

Participants can walk, run or bike as much of the trail as they can. Registrants can also set up their own fundraising page with photos, stories and emails to supporters.
