Vaughan residents invited to Black Creek information session

The organizers of Vaughan’s Black Creek Renewal Project will be holding an informative event to present details of its latest efforts, and the public is invited to attend.

In an effort to minimize the risk of flooding, as well as prevent erosion and improve the health of the waterway, a study was undertaken to determine what the best course of action would be. After completing the Black Creek Storm Water Optimization Study Master Plan Class Environmental Assessment (EA), it was felt that renewing and reconstructing a section of the creek was the best solution.

The public has been invited to take part in an evening that will see city representatives present the different options for creek alignments, and also the preliminary design that has been selected as the preferred model. They will have an opportunity to learn about the plan to renew the portion of the waterway between Highway 407 and Edgeley Pond. The will also be offered the opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns they may have about the project. Those who organize a function such as this can have presentation folders prepared that have been filled with information about the plan.

The meeting has been scheduled for May 10 in Vaughan City Hall’s multipurpose room. Further information, as well as a detailed explanation of the project and the rationale behind it, can be found on the city’s website.
