Unique consulate hopes to attract new investment

A cultural and business exchange has been planned to attract investors to the Stoney Creek and Hamilton area.

Dubbed, the ‘Hamilton Consulate’, the invitation-only event will see invitees treated to meetings, industry panels, a fashion show, and parties – all specially designed to showcase what the cities of Hamilton and Stoney Creek have to offer.

The event will be held in Toronto at a local venue near Queen Street West and Bathurst Street. ‘The Burroughes’ is a modern, newly renovated complex that used to be a furniture store.

The two-day event has been organized by Hamilton’s department of Economic Development. Target groups have been organized, with all carefully chosen individuals receiving an invitation to a session specifically designed for them. Feedback received so far has indicated a high level of interest in the event, and most sessions are expected to be completely full.

During the sessions, presentation folders may be employed. Each invitee may also receive promotional products from local business hoping to attract their investment.

The city of Hamilton is spending approximately $42,000 for the event, with businesses from the area working together to match this investment. Those involved agree that the amount being spent on the event is small, when compared to the potential benefits for the local community.

The event takes place on Wednesday, May 31st and Thursday, June 1st.
