UBC to host celebration of craft beer

Craft breweries and cider houses are becoming more popular in Vancouver, and an upcoming event has been planned that will celebrate different versions of these beverages produced both locally and around the world.

During UBC’s Farmhouse Fest, which will be back for its third year, a huge assortment of ciders, beers and ales will be available for sampling, and it will give people from the area an opportunity to explore the world while still staying close to home.

It focuses on Saisons, Farmhouse style ales, ciders and sours. The organizers noted they made their selections of which producer’s wares to include based on their quality, creative recipes and a proven reputation for crafting great beers.

Those who purchase tickets will have an opportunity to taste test the offerings that will be on hand, and the selection will vary based upon what sells out first. Each brewery will have its own booth, and may choose to adjust what they pour based on what they have available. A printer will be able to work with the people planning an event like this to both design and produce promotional drinkware that can be given out to each ticket holder as a memento of the day.

The event is open to anyone over the age of 19, and two pieces of ID will be required. It will take place at the UBC Farm, which is located at 3461 Ross Drive on July 8. More information can be found on its website.
