Timmins will be hosting a conference that will address the issues facing northern Ontario from a variety of perspectives, and all stakeholders are invited to attend and join in the discussion.

Each year, State of the North annual conference brings together an assortment of subject experts, members of the public, community leaders, and more to discuss the state of the northern portion of the province. This year, the theme of the symposium will be ‘Responding to Northern Ontario’s Demographic Shift’. In addition to the presentations and talks, plenty of time for networking and sharing best practices has been built into the schedule for the event.

The organizers noted that the proposed solutions presented will be evidence-based with a goal of achieving sustainability in the North. They went on to say that the input of all stakeholders, including First Nations Peoples and governing bodies at the local level, is needed for this to be a success. Those who plan on attending an event such as this can have premium business cards printed beforehand, which they can share during the networking sessions.

The State of the North conference will take place on September 27 in Timmins’s Ramada Inn, which is located at 1800 Riverside Drive in Timmins. Anyone who would like to register to participate or who wants to obtain more information can do so on the Northern Policy Institute’s website.
