Timmins chamber to host learning event for local companies

A workshop has been planned for Timmins that its organizers hope will take some of the mystery out of public relations for local businesses.

The Timmins Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an information session that will equip those who take part with skills they can use to craft effective press releases and media interviews. An assortment of techniques will be discussed, including creating simple but engaging media releases that a company can use to keep its customers, and the general public as well, abreast of its latest activities. Participants will also discover how to act, speak and otherwise conduct themselves when giving an interview.

The workshop will be facilitated by Nick Stewart, who is the Manager of Policy, Research and Communications for the Chamber. The cost to attend is $30 for Chamber members, and $45.00 for nonmembers. It will be held in the Chamber boardroom located at 76 McIntyre Road in Schumacher, and light snacks and other refreshments will also be served. Digital copying can be used by a local printer to create copies of handouts and other information materials that can be distributed to each person who attends a learning event such as this.

The Press Releases and Media Interviews session has been planned for May 24, and further details and an opportunity to register can be obtained on the Chamber’s website.
