Sustainable fisheries conference planned for Dartmouth

January 27, 2017 by

Fishing has long been a part of the local economy, and during a conference and annual AGM of the Fishermen and Scientists Research Society (FSRS) in Dartmouth, the focus will be on sustaining this industry over the long term.

The day will kick off with registration and networking, which will be followed by opening words of welcome. After this, there will be a variety of presentations by experts in the field and other stakeholders.

Over the lunch break, the FSRS will host its annual general meeting, during which its posters will be on display for the attendees. A poster printing business can be called upon to supply these items for an event like this. Once the conference is back in session, there will be further discussion, after which student posters will be exhibited and awards will be presented. As the day moves into the evening hours, it will wind up with reception and silent auction.

The organizers of the event are asking that anyone who plans on going make a contribution of $25.00 to help meet the cost of paying for the lunch breaks and snacks.

The FSRS 24th annual conference and AGM will be held in the Best Western Plus Dartmouth Hotel and Suites, which is located at 15 Spectacle Lake in Dartmouth. Additional details and registration information are available from the organization’s Facebook page.
