Oysters to take centre stage during Calgary event

Although Calgary may be far from any ocean, this summer will see the city celebrating seafood during the Alberta Oyster Festival.

The event, which will bring together some of the province’s oyster experts, will be the first of what its organizers hope will become an annual event. Some of Alberta’s best shuckers will be on hand to show off their skills, and those who come to watch the action will also have an opportunity to learn more about this popular ingredient.

The winner of the shucking contest will receive both bragging rights and a trip to Toronto where they will be called on to represent their home province in the Ontario Oyster Festival. As well as this, there will also be a category for those who are good shuckers but need more experience to compete with the best. A local printer can provide a full range of printing services, including logo design and banners, for a new event such as this.

This inland celebration of the sea has been planned for June 25th, and everyone is welcome to come out and cheer on the competitors. It will be held at Rodney’s Oyster House, which is situated at 355 10 Ave S.W. Anyone interested in finding out more information about the festival can do so on its Avenue Calgary listing.
