OSPCA issues call for public’s support

The Ontario SPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre has issued an invitation to people from Newmarket and the surrounding areas to lend a hand in fighting animal cruelty and neglect.

While official Cupcake Day may be later in February, the organization is asking members of the public to host their own event beforehand. Some ideas for this include bringing these sweet treats to the office, school meeting or social event. Another suggestion made by the event’s organizers is to have a Valentine’s Day bake sale or host a party.

To make it as easy as possible for people to participate, the Ontario SPCA (OSPCA) has created a set of online tools that people can use to plan their own fundraiser. Once someone registers to do so, a kit of host materials will be mailed out to them. Promotional products such as these can be prepared ahead of time by a printer. Those who wish to make a donation can do so through the Online Bakery. After that, all a person needs to do is bake their cupcakes, plan their party and collect the contributions. These can then be passed along to the OSPCA, which will use them to support its efforts to help animals.

Additional details about the Cupcake Day campaign and a link for those who wish to participate can be found on the event’s website.
