Locals can soon enjoy Brampton Farmers’ Market

The 2017 season of the downtown Farmers’ Market will begin in June, for the service of all Brampton residents and tourists.

The annual market showcases locally grown fruits, vegetables and homemade baked goods. Visitors have the unusual opportunity of shopping in the outdoors, making purchases directly from the neighboring farmer producers.

Each month, different fruits and vegetables will be in season, and available from the local farmers who grow them. When the market opens in June, fruits like cherries, strawberries and rhubarb will be available. Vegetables in season that month include beans, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and onions.

Farmers may choose to use printing services to create signs for their kiosk at the market, as well as calendars and newsletters featuring the availability of their produce during the season. Personalized business forms may be used if merchants at the market want to provide receipts to their customers.

The Brampton Farmers’ Market is one of many in Ontario responsible for boosting the local economy by two dollars for every dollar spent. In 2016, Ontario-based Farmers’ Markets generated close to $600m in sales, contributing towards a $1.8bn boost to the province’s economy.

This year, the market will open on Saturday, June 17, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. It will then be open weekly on Saturdays in its downtown Brampton location at the corner of Main Street North and Main Street South.
