Langley Playwright’s Production Performs at Vancouver Fringe Festival

Langley resident Playwright Shane Cochon’s 2008 production about forgiveness and coming together in the wake of tragedy will receive both local and international attention after being accepted as an official submission at the Vancouver International Fringe Festival.

The play, entitled Screaming Silently, will be performed at the Dr. Sun-Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden later this year. According to the playwright , the play’s plot has an “optimistic and hopeful” message will likely be well received after Cochon’s successful production Limbo, which was released last March and presents a serious message about human trafficking.

Companies publishing publicity on behalf of the Fringe Festival will no doubt be working hard on printing services to advertise the Langley resident’s production at the upcoming Vancouver International Fringe Festival, even though Screaming Silently will be away from the majour event. The productions set to perform at the Vancouver International Fringe Festival are expected to use locally made and handcrafted props, as well amateur yet talented actors. Rochon himself opted for this “bring your own venue approach” to performing his play after losing the lottery to perform on stages on and around Granville Island.

Performances are scheduled to be held on June 17 in Langley, BC and again on September 16 in Surrey. Screaming Silently will also perform at the Fringe on September 10, 13 and 17. Despite the shoestring budget, Screaming Silently is still mentioned in Fringe Festival publicity. Printing companies that are providing brochure printing and other printing services for the Fringe Festival will hopefully help ensure that the Langley playwright’s highly anticipated second production is a majour success.
