Junior Hockey Teams in Smaller Canadian Communities Draw in Local Support
May 25, 2011 by Chloe
The NHL has plenty of fans across Canada, but with only three Canadian teams currently in the NHL, hockey fans from smaller towns are supporting their local teams in the Canadian Hockey League. Of the CHL’s 60 teams, 51 are based in Canada. With increasingly full arenas and a fan base that is steadily rising day by day, there may be an increase in demand for printing services like
poster printing for local hockey teams, like the
London, ON Knights.
During NHL playoffs in larger communities, it may be easy to forget that Canadian junior hockey leagues exist. However, many players who begin their careers in junior championships later become part of Olympic hockey teams and NHL draft picks. Fan interest at the junior level for emerging talent builds support and confidence for prospective professional players and helps generate civic pride in smaller communities in Canada.
Players in smaller leagues also play a role in local communities, by acting as role models and offering and talks to elementary school students in their communities about issues like self-esteem, bullying and drug awareness.
Printers in smaller towns all across Canada can play a role in supporting local hockey clubs by publishing paraphernalia about players, upcoming games, team profiles, and community events that players may attend. Services like poster printings in communities like London, ON can remind local fans that there is plenty of exciting hockey and talented players to follow not far from the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
