Job Search Bootcamp to help Calgary put its best foot forward

October 6, 2016 by

An event has been planned to help those who have been hit by the downturn in the oil and gas industry get a head start when it comes to finding a new career.

The daylong workshop, which has been organized by Alberta Human Services and Futures by Design Inc., will be offered in a boot camp style. Participants will learn how to market their skillset to employers through such measures as acing a job interview, writing résumés that will be sure to be noticed, how to use social media to network and find the jobs in the hidden job market, and also where to go if they need further support. Along with the instruction, there will be question and answer sessions with a variety of professionals in the HR field. A printer can create personalized pens and memo pads for all those who take part.

The event is being held on November 15 and 16, and the organizers recommend that those who plan on taking part have a level of English that will allow them to get the most from the advice given. There is no charge to take part, and it will run from 8:30 am until 3:30pm at Calgary’s Civic on Third, located at 130 3 Avenue Southeast.

More details and an opportunity to purchase tickets can be found on its Eventbrite page.
