Help the Craig Gallery at the Small Wonders fundraiser
November 21, 2011 by Stephen
The Small Wonders exhibit and sale will be running at the Craig Gallery in Dartmouth from December 1-21; the opening reception will take place at 7 pm on December 1. The exhibit consists of donated small works of art and all money raised will go to the Craig Gallery. Those artists whose work will be on display, and available for sale, at the exhibit will include Rose Adams, Kay Stanfield, Dawn Menutt and many other local artists.
The Craig Gallery was founded by Jack and Joan Craig to provide:
“an important opportunity for amateur and established artists to display their works.”
It is important that such galleries as the Craig Gallery exist. It can be very difficult for amateur artists to find a place to show their works. Those who work at local Dartmouth printing companies and those who require their services should be interested in attending this show. Ideas can come from anywhere and seeing what current artists are creating can only help to spur the creative juices of those in the graphic arts who view them. The show also gives those attending the chance to buy unique Christmas presents for their friends and family.
The Craig Gallery is located at the Alderney Landing Cultural Convention Centre. This Centre features not only the art gallery but a theatre, a market and an outdoor stage and plaza. It “exists to enhance the recreational and cultural life of the region.” It is a popular destination point in Dartmouth.
