Help for print companies coming through Ottawa Digital Initiative
December 30, 2011 by Chloe
Small and medium sized printers in Mississauga and the rest of Canada looking to make the link with technology will have some help through a new government sponsored program, called Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program (DTAPP).
The integration of technology with traditional printing services is a difficult issue to resolve for some
print companies, and the cost of constantly upgraded equipment has been a problem for others.
The $80 million federal program will help resolve both. DTAPP will help encourage all business sectors, including print companies, to connect with the technology most beneficial to its respective sector and will offer a financial contribution of up to $88,9999 to cover labour, contractors, travel, feasibility and training to help analyze organizational change requirements to help meet the needs of a digital future.
Under the initiatives, print companies who feel threatened by digital technology in the areas of printing services are encouraged to source out technologies that will help enhance print services, rather than replace them.
Those interested in the DTAPP initiatives must be from the business sector and have 500 employees or fewer, be incorporated, be for-profit and operate within Canada. Interested print companies in areas with a strong corporate presence like Mississauga and Toronto are strongly encouraged to consider the federal grant.
To receive the funds, firms must also be growth oriented and demonstrate plans to designed to adopt digital technologies and be interested and willing to modify and adapt current operations to maximize the use of digital technology and enhance productivity, something that successful print companies should already be doing to preserve the future of their businesses.
