The Place des Arts gallery is holding a reception to announce the new season of exhibitions.

Three shows will start in April and continue until the end of May. A reception is being held to celebrate them all and guests may have the opportunity to meet with the artists who will be the subject of those exhibitions. Refreshments will likely be served.

“Communication of Beauty and Function” is an exhibition of the ceramics of Hitomi McKenzie. This artist takes everyday decorative accessories and gives them her own spin.

“Whisperings” features the fiber art of Catherine Nicholls and Anni Hunt. The works are inspired by artist Emily Carr and are mostly on the theme of the forest landscape.

“Codex Pacificus” is a photography exhibit from Laara Cerman. The artist takes real British Columbia plants, wildflowers and leaves and takes a picture of them by laying them on a flatbed scanner.

All of these exhibits are likely to attract art lovers and those who work in graphic design in Coquitlam .

The gallery is open Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.

The opening reception will be held at Place des Arts on March 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Admission is free. Contact Kate Lancaster at 604-664-1636 for more information.
