Fun event will raise funds for people with disabilities

The VASS Cup, which is the top fundraiser for Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports (VASS), is taking place next month in North Vancouver.

The event is open to anyone who wishes to try out some of the equipment that disabled athletes use, and will include ski races, sledge hockey and other snow sports. Those who wish to participate can register as an individual or as a team; they then collect pledges from friends, families, and co-workers. Spectators are also welcome to watch all of the activities.

The day is also set to feature a film screening, a silent auction, and lots of après ski fun. Apples will be provided for snacks and participants and spectators can take a tour of the VASS yurt.

Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to sponsor the event or to donate money to participants. Volunteers are also being sought to ensure the smooth running of celebration.

Funds raised will provide ski and snowboard lessons for people of all ages with physical disabilities. Pledge forms and other printed materials may be provided by a North Vancouver stationery printing firm.

The VASS Cup will be held at Grouse Mountain on March 4 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For more information, to become a sponsor or volunteer, or to register for the event, call 604-546-8277.
