Fort Langley BC Celebrates with Canada Day Festivities
July 11, 2011 by Martin
Fort Langley encouraged various members of its citizenry to explore the meaning of Canada Day during the city’s publicly sponsored fun festivities at historic Fort Langley.
Put together by three museums, the site was admission free on Canada Day and the venue for a citizenship ceremony, live entertainment, Polynesian dance, the Xplorer Parks Canada program, watercolour and junkology workshops. Children participating in the Parks Canada Xplorer program were given printed booklets to guide them through various activities. The Centennial Museum also included surprise events at the Farm Museum, such as a petting zoo, bannock making and performances by live musicians.
With much to do for both young and young at heart, Langley became a site of exploration of Canada’s cultural and historical heritage during the celebrations through the help and support of the Fort Langley Business Development Association. Community events and festivities, like the Canada Day celebration at Fort Langley require volunteers, preparation, private funding, organization and a fair amount of print advertising in order to be successful.
Some of the services offered by printers that can help make events like this one a success include poster printing advertisements various centres and events during the celebration and booklet printings of hourly activities for attendees, such as that of the Xplorer program. Other Canadian cultural celebrations in the form of print at Fort Langley took place in the form of watercolour, painting and printmaking. Professionals on hand can help supervise activities like these and encourage community interest in the print industry.
