Florists and authors battle prostate cancer in Ajax and Pickering
June 6, 2012 by Chloe
On the surface, it may seem like an unlikely alliance but an Ajax florist and his author brother have joined forces to raise awareness and funds in the battle against prostate cancer. Jeff and Philip Wilson, owners of Reed’s Florists, with locations in both Ajax and Pickering, have joined their brother, author Peter Wilson, in a cause which is close to him and are using print to make their campaign a successful one.
The Wilsons grandfather and a future father-in-law have been afflicted with prostrate cancer, prompting them to begin a campaign to educate men about the disease and provide community support for sufferers and their loved ones.
Until June 17, the Reed’s florists will provide free printed literature about prostate cancer at all of their locations, with a percentage of sales to be donated to Prostate Cancer Canada. Proceeds from Peter Wilson’s printed book “Daddy’s Little Girl” will also contribute to the cause. Peter will be on hand for a book signing in Oshawa at Reed’s Florists on June 16 and will donate an additional 50 cents per signed copy to the charity organization Prostate Cancer Canada.
The Wilsons’ campaign against cancer shows print companies just how beneficial providing printing services to support a charitable cause can be. Booklet printings which describe facts, prevention, treatments, and causes of the disease are an important part of the Wilsons’ endeavour to educate the public about prostate cancer and reach a large audience.
Reed’s Florists are located in Ajax, Oshawa and Pickering Town Centre.
