Fitness event returns to Penticton

December 24, 2016 by

The 4th annual Okanagan Valley Throwdown is taking place in Penticton next month for two days.

This is a premier fitness and CrossFit competition for both men and women that is expected to feature over 300 competitors. These can compete on a competitive or recreational basis either as individuals or teams. They will be divided into eight divisions, including competitive women, recreational teams and masters men aged 39+.

Athletes will compete in skills such as weightlifting, powerlifting, rowing, gymnastics and medicine ball. Each person does four workouts, and the top in each move to a fifth one on the last day of competition. Teams have three workouts and the top move onto a fourth on the final day.

Registration is still open for some divisions. Fees are $115 per athlete or $460 for a team, and include T-shirts, a swag bag and snacks during both days.

The competition is open to spectators on both days. It’s likely that organizers will be distributing posters and flyers throughout Penticton to advertise this event.

The Okanagan Valley Throwdown will be held at the South Okanagan Events Center from January 28 to 29. Admission for spectators is $8 or $14 for two days, while family passes are $30 for one day or $40 for both days.
