Everyday superheroes invited to help build Lethbridge playground

March 17, 2017 by

The Lethbridge community of Lakeview will once again be hosting its annual Lakeview Community Superhero Fun Run in support of the construction of a new playground at Lakeview School.

The event will include both a five-kilometer run and a two-kilometer route where participants can walk, run or roll their way along the course. The runners can be chip timed, and the race trail starts and finishes on the grounds of Lakeview School. The goal for the day will be to raise at least $5,000 for the children’s equipment, as Scotiabank has agreed to match the contributions up to $5,000.

This family friendly event will include balloons for the kids, and in keeping with the day’s superhero theme, the first 700 people to sign up to take part will receive a specially designed race cape. According to the organizers, along with the fundraising, one of the goals for the day is to celebrate the country’s 150th birthday, and everyone from the area is invited to join in the spirit of the occasion. Wide format printing can be utilized by the organizers of an event like this to produce banners and other items for use on race day.

The race will be held on May 10 at Lethbridge’s Lakeview School. Further details and an opportunity to register to participate can be found on its website.
