Edmonton top city for entrepreneurs in Canada
October 22, 2011 by Stephen
For the second year running, the Financial Post/Canadian Federation of Independent Business’s Communities in Bloom ranking has named Edmonton as the top large city in Canada for entrepreneurs. The reason for this is said to be the strong
Alberta economy and the fact that many of the suppliers for large automotive or oil companies are based in Edmonton.
Several reasons are cited for Edmonton being named the top city, as stated above it is partly because many suppliers are based in the city. But, it is also believed to be due to the fact that business owners in Edmonton pay less tax than their counterparts in Calgary and that they seem less bothered by government red tape. They believe that their local government is aware and supportive of small business.
It is a great selling point for earning new business to let your potential customers know that Edmonton is a great place to do business. One way of getting the word out is for a small business to arrange to have this fact stated on the next design they submit for new business stationery printing. What better way than to draw business than to point towards such a prestigious title?
Starting a new business seems to get harder and harder every year, obviously it’s easier in some locations and not others due to factors such as taxation, availability of new employees and government aid and awareness. Paying attention to rankings such as the Communities in Bloom one can help you decide where you would like to start up that business.
