Doors Open Toronto to host its biggest event to date

March 12, 2017 by

For one weekend this spring, Toronto residents will find themselves welcome to explore buildings and other locations across the city that would normally be off-limits to visitors.

The city, which was one of the first in North America to host a Doors Open event, will be inviting the public to get a sneak peek into buildings that are considered to be important because of their architectural, historical or cultural significance.

More than 150 facilities will be open to visitors, which makes this one of the three largest events of its kind in the world. Digital printing can be utilized to produce maps of the locations as well as information about each of the structures and facilities that will be included in the weekend’s activities.

The theme selected for this year is ‘Fifteen Decades of Canadian Architecture’, and will include structures that represent each of the decades since 1860. To help ensure the weekend goes smoothly, the organizers are interested in hearing from those who are considering acting as a sponsor or volunteer for the event.

The dates selected for the 2017 Doors Open Toronto are May 27 and 28. Anyone who would like to see a listing of the buildings that will be included and where to find them, as well as other information, is invited to visit the city’s website for additional details.
