Celebrate the Halifax Business Awards
January 22, 2012 by Martin
The Halifax Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Halifax Business Awards on January 26. The event will take place at the Halifax Marriot Harbourfront from 5-10 pm. Tickets are $150 for Chamber members and $200 for non-members.
The evening will start off with a reception, followed by dinner and the awards and concluded with another reception. In addition to honouring those who are nominated, this event is also an excellent networking opportunity to meet your business peers from the Halifax Regional Municipality including Dartmouth. Make sure to arrange for a new business card printing order in advance and be sure to give a card to everyone you meet. Since it is a social event, networking will most likely just include the exchange of business cards and should not include any hard sell or serious discussions about business.
The Halifax Business Awards exist to “recognize risk takers and the success of our thriving business community.” They have been held since 2000 and recognize businesses located in the Halifax Regional Municipality. There are five awards up for grabs and the five nominees for each award are judged by a panel of business men and women from the Municipality. Each award has a gold, silver and bronze winner. Awards are presented for New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business of the Year, International Business of the Year and Business Person of the Year.
Award such as these are helpful in that they highlight those business owners who are leading by example. The winners should be studied and emulated by other business owners.
