Calgary competition to feature pork and pinot wine

Calgary residents will soon have an opportunity to enjoy fine wines and creative pork dishes, all in support of the local Meals on Wheels program.

This will be the 7th year for the Pig and Pinot Festival, which will feature pinot wines from all over the world, as well as an assortment of pork-based dishes prepared using free range meats sourced from Spragg’s Meat Shop. The winner of the competition will receive the highly coveted ‘divine swine’ trophy to recognize their culinary skill.

In addition to the contest, those who attend the event as a spectator will be able to sample the wines and food, bid on items in the silent auction, enjoy a freshly brewed coffee courtesy of the Cappicino King coffee cart and listen to live entertainment supplied by Rob Young and Simply Sinatra.

The event, which is sponsored by City Palate Magazine and Alberta Pork, will be held in Hotel Arts, and everyone is welcome. Tickets start at $130 each, and wine raffle tickets are also available for purchase ahead of time. The organizers of an annual function such as this can use a printer’s branding upgrade service to ensure that its logos and other branding are up-to-date and effective.

The celebration of pinot and pork will be held on June 15, and further details, along with an opportunity to purchase raffle and event tickets, can be found on the City Palate Facebook page.
