Burnaby to greet spring with floral festival

February 8, 2017 by

Each spring, Burnaby’s rhododendrons, which are its official flowers, come into bloom. To mark the occasion, the city will be hosting its Rhododendron Festival.

The event will offer something for everyone, whether they have a green thumb or not. There will be live entertainment, food, and a series of workshops where attendees can learn how to keep their own gardens looking great. There will also be guided nature tours, horticultural tours where the participants can be inspired to try new ideas in their own home landscapes, rovers, a plant sale, and other interactive activities. Those who organize an event like this can count on a printer to provide them with signs and other printed materials that can help to make an event like this a success.

The art lovers in the crowd can browse through the works that will be on display, and even bring some home with them from the artisan and pottery sales and silent auction. It is organized through the cooperative efforts of the Burnaby Garden and Rhododendron Society, and the city of Burnaby itself.

The festival will take place in Deer Lake Park close to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on May 7 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. Admission is free for all ages, and everyone is welcome to take part in this celebration of spring. More information can be found on its website.
