Bowling and cocktails raise money for local charities

The city of Markham is hosting two events next month that will help to benefit residents.

The first is the 5th annual Strike 13 Tournament on April 9, which hopes to raise funds for the Markham 5 Pin YBC Foundation. It will be held at Markham Bowl. So many people have signed up already that there will be two shifts of bowling games. Teams are made up of five players; fees are $40 per person or $200 for a team. Each team will play five games. There will be several extra activities taking place including a singles pool where everyone puts in $10 and the pot is won by the highest scorer and a Share the Wealth draw where the charity gets 50 percent of the pot. Call 905-294-4556 to learn more.

Later on in the month is Niko’s Night for Autism, which is a fundraiser for Autism Ontario, which will be held on April 28 at the Crystal Fountain Event Venue. Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner and dancing. There will also be an open bar and a silent auction. The guest emcee for the evening will be Colorado Avalanche hockey player Bryan Muir. Tickets are $125 each for adults and $75 for children aged 12 and under. For the most current information about this event, contact Dan Milanovic at 416-917-3556.

Flyers will likely be distributed in the Markham area to draw attention to both of these events.
