Art in the Open returns to Brampton
May 18, 2012 by Stephen
For the 13th year, “Art in the Open” will take place at Garden Square on every Saturday from June 16 – October 6 from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm. Admission is free and is part of the weekend Brampton Farmers’ Market.
Art in the Open is the place to go to buy unique and one-of-a-kind gifts. All art sold must be hand-crafted and original, with kits and manufactured materials not allowed. Items for sale will include paintings, illustrations, woodwork, dolls, paper-works, home decor, and photographs. It is a great opportunity for the public to see what artists in their community are working on. It also gives the artist the chance to make their name known in the city and to find new buyers for their work.
Vendors apply to sell their wares at the event by sending a portfolio or sample of their works to the Brampton Arts Council beforehand. Rental of vendor space is $160 for the entire season or $10 each Saturday, with a $10 insurance fee also necessary. Vendors must also be members of the Brampton Arts Council and can buy a membership for $25 per year at the same time as they register for the event. Each vendor is given a 10′ space and must provide their own tables, chairs and tents. The space is expected to be aesthetically pleasing to the organizers, so Brampton printing companies can provide the vendors with tasteful signage. They can also provide banner printing services to help make the space more festive and colorful.
