Alberta a top province for retail sales growth
October 24, 2011 by Stephen
According to the Colliers International 2011 Fall Retail Forecast, Alberta is well set up for the coming holiday retail season. Since the province is doing well economically, Colliers believes that this will cause holiday shoppers to spend more than they did last year.
Local Calgary stores are very encouraged by this and are looking forward to welcoming more customers this year. The Alberta Oil Sands has hired more people this year and those people make very good money; many of them want to buy the best gifts that they can for their friends and family this year since many did not have the money to spend last year.
In order to increase those sales, Calgary retailers will probably be pulling out all the stops; sales, promotions and advertising blitzes. Specials such as money-off coupons would also bring shoppers back to the stores. A flyer printing campaign would be an inexpensive and effective way to bring shoppers to your store, especially if there was a coupon or a deal printed on that flyer. The flyers can either be delivered to area households through direct mail, can be distributed as inserts in local newspapers or can be handed out on the street to passers-by.
While some shoppers will probably be more cautious this year with the money they spend, many of them seem to have money to burn. It is just up to the local businesses to find a way to attract those with money to spend.
